Charles L. FontenayCharles Louis Fontenay was born on March 17, 1917 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and raised in Tennessee from infancy. Fontenay was editor of the Nashville Tennessean, among other newspapers, worked with the Associated Press and Gannett News Service. He held a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do. While working in the news services, he wrote science fiction novels, short stories (mostly for IF magazine), and two nonfiction works. After his retirement to St. Petersburg, Florida, he returned to writing sf with the long Kipton sequence of juveniles featuring the eponymous young girl in various adventures on Earth and in space. Charles L. Fontenay died on January 27, 2007 in Memphis, Tennessee.
