R Reference Manual: Base Package, Vol. 1

This book and vol 2 are nothing more than a printed versions of the documentation that comes with an installation of R -- and only for the base package. If that's what you want then these books are for you. Be aware that it is already out of date. While part of the purchase may be earmarked for development, perhaps it would be better to send all of the price of these two volumes directly instead.
